My local football team managed a draw with the runaway league leaders. Biggest crowd for several years into the bargain, That will help the coffers. Mick That sounds like National League South. The leaders are from my old home town, and I saw them draw with Sunderland as a lad in the FA cup third round. They were defeated by quite a margin in the replay at Roker Park. 60 years ago if I remember correctly, during the hard winter of ‘63.

Coincidentally, my current home town team are also top of their league, albeit two levels lower in the league hierarchy.

All that bad weather we had and no problem with power cuts - until today. Lost it island-wide for the last hour. I lost my landline connection (via ISP) and lost a signal on my mobile. Thank goodness for my battery powered radio. I'm leaving those monster batteries in it for a while, just in case.

At least you weren't missing much by way of football coverage!

7 points from 4 games since Nathan Jones was sacked. If only we had a proper goal scorer (Graziano Pelle was the last one we had.).

He was a work in progress. Maybe one day he will be the finished article, but at the moment he's only fit to clean Pelle or super-Rickie's boots.

/obvious [to some*] silly comment alert/ He's been gone too long.
* one might need to be of a 'certain age' to get this.

John Barnes was on Sky earlier talking about the BBC/Lineker showdown. Absolutely nailed it, highlighting the real issues and the danger in the language used by the government.

We don't have Sky, but he was also on one of the terrestrial channels..... and he nailed it on there, too.

In other Twitter news, J*rd*n P*t*rs*n retweeted a tweet in which someone posted a video of male milking fetish porn claiming it was Chinese Communist Party torture. Still can't get my head around the fact he's a real professor. Hilarious.

I'm a bit discerning about teabags. I was happy to find Cafe Direct fairtrade everyday tea from the Co-op. Then they stopped stocking it. It wasn't cheap - about a fiver for 80 bags, but it's a clean tea and suits conditions here. No muck at the bottom of the pack or scum in the mug. I have ordered online a pack of 440 teabags for £15. A bargain compared to when the Co-op sold it. Should arrive today.
