Indeed! The former administration, despite a majority, behaved like a rudderless ship. Clearly the Truss premiership did nobody any favours especially Ms Truss herself. Her predecessor was Boris being Boris and it was he that successful compromised the trust of the electorate. Liz seems to have confirmed the general opinion of diminished responsibility. Could Rishi have turned things around? Possibly, if he had been decisive from day one but I have always distrusted politicians who are financially independent, it leads to disconnection. We’ll see how well, and for how long, the current lot get on. If they can make their policies work, good for them. Rishi might have if a) he had been in control of his party, he wasn't, and b) He had not been so thirled to the moronic, expensive and vindictive Rwanda policy - whether because of (a) above or because he is moronic, expensive and vindictive. Whoever is in charge should be dealing with the old problems and not creating new ones to distract us.

Three films currently hanging up over the bath. All from pre-WW2 cameras. Aside from the format, which is a bit of a giveaway, the negs from the Rolleiflex just look *amazing* compared to the others. Off to buy bits for Caffenol tomorrow. Reasons to be less cheerful. Despite rinsing in distilled water, then in distilled wayer with rinse aid, I have the worse drying marks I've ever had. I think I will buy a squeegee. There's a print one in the attic, I think, but it's on the large side. Will see for sure tonight but it looks as though a rewash and a tickle of the visible marks with a gloved finger might have done the trick. If so I'll wash the other two tonight and scan tomorrow. There's nothing worth watching on the tele, and cricket is off, couldn't get a team for some reason. If they are scratched where they have been tickled... they are no worse then they were.

If all else fails you could try rinsing with Brawndo. Get electrolytes working for you.

Inspiration struck while I was scanning negs and I tracked down the mystery box camera I took to the Netherlands last year. I can now label the flder the scans are in correctly.
I've also shot a roll with it's folding stablemate - oh boy, has it got light leaks!

The man came and fixed my wobbly window handles and new door furniture for the back door. That was nearly a doozy, since it didn't play up until he squirted some oil in the tiny holes. Then it wouldn't work. Ha! I was relieved, since it had been an intermittent fault of sticking. All hunky-dory again.

I rarely play electric guitar. Lately I have been playing my P44 Parker fly with the Acoustic pickup giong ino a ZT Acoustic Lunchbox amp and Magnetic pick ups going into a Hughes and Kettner 5 Watt valve head which then gets fed into the aux input of the ZT Acoustic. An ultra compact and lightweight solution to using a guitar with both acoustic and regular electric guitar pickups - not that I anticipate gigging... Problem was using the magnetic pick ups only the sound was so boring I ended up turning the acoustic reverb up to 11 and only using the magnetic pickups blended with the acoustic one. Decided to replace the standard 12AX pre-amp valve with a lower power ECC81 to facilitate valve breakup sound - if it was good enough for Stevie Ray Vaughn then it is certainly enough for me. A used Mullard ECC81 arrived this afternoon and I swapped it in taking out the stock 12AX which no-one would admit to making - it just says "China" no manufactures name. Not only am I getting a nice break up sound with the Gain turned right up but even with he gain reduced and no break up the amp is sounding really good and I have turned the acoustic reverb down to normal and am happy with the Magnetics played on their own. I have had the little 5 Watt head for ages but had hardly used it. I shall probably swap out the power amp valve for a better one. Yes herself has just called me her little waterproof, warm, practical jacket.
