A good while back now Nige mentioned a sour beer he'd tried that was made in Edinburgh. That made me check out the brewer (Vault City) who has gone from strength to strength, and also now has 2 taprooms open. Over the 2/3 years I've tried quite a few of their beers and never had a bad one. Yesterday we ate at one of the taprooms, which had a pop-up kitchen run by Bundits. The food was excellent as was the beer. I probably would have found them eventually but thanks to Nige for sending me down a very pleasant sour beer rabbit hole.

Not exactly cheerful but my friend's suffering ended last night. It's been a tough few weeks and I'm thankful it wasn't longer.

Yep, know that feeling. I wished the big C had taken my dad sooner than it did.
My condolences.

One hedge nearly done. Kate absolutely cooked. Rare, Medium rare or Well done? Definitely rare! Finished the first hedge. I don't know what was biting, but something was keeping me company.

Just seen a beautiful herald moth in the garden. Did it Herald the opening of a wallet or purse...?

Just seen a beautiful herald moth in the garden. Did it Herald the opening of a wallet or purse...? No, it's native to these parts.

When my grandmother on my mother's side died we shed no tears at all- Alzheimer's as far as we were concerned had taken her away 4-5 years before her body gave out. It left my mum obsessed with not ending up like that

My mother died with cancer and was in dreadful pain. The doc prescribed morphine to be injected by either my sister or my wife. At first the dose was strictly controlled and records kept. At the end we were told to inject as often and as much as we wanted.
Has "assisted dying" been going on, thinly disguised, for some long time? This is the first time I've ever expressed that thought, and now only because I'm 100% sure neither sister nor wife will read it.

Yes it has. Probably not in the way that some who want it introduced , but overdosing on morphine for pain relief purposes is not unknown. Putting the patient into a totally "relaxed" state and letting nature take over.
