Does it really matter?
Here's my personal opinion. 1. Sunak is the PM and I want him at his desk, as healthy as possible, working to solve problems. Therefore, I don't want him waiting weeks for an appointment to see his GP. 2. I don't want the other patients of a GP to be unfairly treated by Sunak getting any priority. 3. I'd be quite disappointed if he doesn't use a private GP.
I don't expect much agreement!!!

I agree with you - although I expect to be ostracized for that! He can clearly afford to go privately, and he almost certainly has private health insurance. Why would anyone want him using NHS resources when they are under so much pressure as it is? ...and, of course, what the hell has it got to do with anyone else, how he gets his health care?

I agree too. Not had a private GP but got better service from a private dentist.
Different country but did anyone else hear about the treatment Jay Leno got after his recent burn injury? I doubt the NHS, if they had one, would do as much. It seemed excessive but the results are impressive...hardly noticeable that half his face was on fire after getting covered in petrol.

I think my only issue is it being a further demonstration that he genuinely does not know what the average person's experience is. But as he also seems to not know how to put petrol in a car or pay for it it's hardly a shock that he's out of touch.

She doesn't drive and gets chauffered. Would probably be funny watching either of them change a tyre.

Would probably be funny watching either of them change a tyre. Someone should pitch this to one of the TV channels as a new celebrity reality show

I think my only issue is it being a further demonstration that he genuinely does not know what the average person's experience is. But as he also seems to not know how to put petrol in a car or pay for it it's hardly a shock that he's out of touch. Given that all MPs, irrespective of party allegiance, earn considerable more than the minimum wage it could be said that they are all out of touch to some extent. It is also the case that MPs have access to people and facilities that are denied to the rest of us. Their experience is generally different from that of Mr/Mrs/Ms average. The Prime Minister is provided with a car and driver so, once in office, has no need to put petrol in a car. There is no reason to assume that, prior to taking office, any PM owned or drove a car it isn’t mandatory. If politicians weren’t out of touch, to some extent, many things might be different because they would realise that the system is inherently unfair. Personally I would pay MPs, including the PM, the “living wage” and provide accommodation in or around Westminster and/or travelling facilities in a non-monetary form. Office and staff in the constituency paid centrally and employed by a separate agency. That they would have to experience life the way millions of others do and might legislate accordingly.

I had a face to face appointment with my GP a couple of weeks ago. I was rung up at home to schedule another appointment for tomorrow. I don't know whether to be pleased or nervous now.
Anyway, I expect nothing from the PM and I'm not disappointed.

So what if he does. I am glad he is freeing up the health service for the benefit of the rest of us.

Private health care has a tendency to utilise NHS facilities and resource though "Harley Street" GPs are probably completely capitalist.
