Still Life So really up to you what the composition is. It could have some meaning, some special context or just a pleasant arrangement. It could even be a digital collage of images. Sometimes I go to great lengths to set up a photo just to see how the light plays around the subject. But anything goes as long as the composition has had some human intervention.

Just a daft one to start. This sort of art is not really us at all but this was inherited from my wife's parents. It is a still life, oil on canvas. My wife dislikes it, but for some reason, I love it. Anyhow, I don't have any cheese, bread rolls, fancy jar or grapes in the house to recreate it. I have wine, an apple and a nana. What, as in, it's not still life but it's still, life?!

Pink and grey brown leather wtih flowers by Kath Polley, on Flickr Here's a handbag still life for a client that is not going well. They are insisting they want everything on a pale (white or grey) background because the background of their website is white. I think their products look much better on dark, warm wood or with soft fabrics and hints of metal to tone in with the metal work on the bag but they'r not having it. This is a test shot to see if they want me to try and find fresh flowers for the job or not.
