The chain in the centre of the picture links the shutter speed dial, and the aperture sensor, to the meter. Move either control, and the meter turns. The upper, blurry chain goes down to the spot/normal metering switch. I will not be repairing this camera, just pillaging it for parts.

Goodness, it must be buggered if you aren't having a go! Presumably you have a better one that this will be a source for?
I don't have a pic (OK, I probably do, but it'll take far too much excavating), but the light meter coupling on the Retinette 1b is via a brass chain and a silk cord. I've dismantled two and still can't work out how that works enough for me to put it back in working order.
Obviously camera designers back then were into chains...

I bought it in a lot of scrap cameras...to be honest, I'd use my Praktica VLC2 rather than this.
