Okay right before I start-this is limited to this Forum. I know some of you are on FB but please don't mention it over there-some people I need to talk to privately about it and don't want them to get it second hand or if all goes well I would prefer them to remain in blissful ignorance and never know about it
I ordered my 2025 diary today (I have kept a daily personal journal since 1974) and no sooner had I done that than my phone went off
It's semi-official, not heard anything directly myself but should do in the next few days now things are getting moving but this was the duty social worker letting me know....
I am on the cancer pathway

I did cross everything for you, Lesley, but I fell over when I got up with my legs crossed. The thought is there, though.

Oh Lesley, sorry to hear the news. But hopefully they've caught it early and the treatments these days are so much better than they used to be. I know from my own family that even the worse diagnosis can be battled against and won. One close relative had stage 3 breast cancer and a very dark diagnosis, but they treated her and she's still here (and active) 18 years later.

Thanks everyone
I am doing a lot better than I imagined I would
For a start I am on the pathway but that is not the same thing as I have cancer, it's just it is possible I do. I worked 4 years in histopathology where one of my jobs was to type up the final reports for the duty gynaecology consultants. The bulk of the work was polpys from various parts of the female anatomy, every one of them was on the cancer pathway and it was so rare to find one that was malignant I had an autocorrect set up in Word for "no atypia or dysplasia seen" so I didn't have to type that sentence endlessly
We'll see. I know as Fen pointed out things have changed, friend of mine diagnosed with lung cancer in 1991 survived 51 weeks after diagnosis but a friends sister in law diagnosed 2018 is still the same nasty spiteful person she always was
For the moment, getting a new job remains my biggest concern

Well, I've managed twelve years so far.
Looking forward to another twelve if Bonnie doesn't work me to death...
