That's the lady who 'objectively' investigated BoJo and parties. Then it turns out she's an avid Labourite.
Surely there have to be questions about her objectivity while in office.
BTW Just for clarity I think that BoJo and his party deserved all they got - but that doesn't lessen my unease at having the fox investigate the chickens!

Which is better, the fox investing the chickens or the chickens investigating themselves? Obviously the preference would be for the guard dog to investigate but politics has become polarised so finding a neutral guard dog isn’t going to be easy.

Actually... She was a Civil Servant. It doesn't matter what her personal politics were, she was there to do a job.
She'd worked in the Civil Services since the 70s under various political parties.
She was very experienced in the workings of government and that was why she was put in charge of the Covid Inquiry.
When she retired from the Civil Service she went to work for the Labour Party, mainly due to all her experience with working with government.
Is she a paid up member of the Labour Party? No.
Is she someone who has worked in government for over 40 years and built up a lot of experience and knowledge of how government works? Yes.
Anything else is just Tory right wing bulls##t

Low hanging fruit. Someone had to go. Firing a civil servant was the easy choice. Interesting Times as Pratchett put it.

Yeah but did you see the new appointee had previously been head of an office that was embroiled in a gifting scandal? Quality pick!

Anything else is just Tory right wing bulls##t From Gray's wiki bio: Gray resigned from her post as Cabinet Office Second Permanent Secretary and left the Civil Service. Gray started her role as Starmer's chief of staff on 4 September 2023 and formally joined the Labour Party in November 2023
According to that she resigned to take up the chief of staff post, she didn't retire, and she is indeed a paid up member of the Labour party. (now)
Looking back I see that my language was a bit OTT so sorry. Having said that I can't think of any other example of a potentially biased (note potentially - I'm making no accusations) investigator/referee being appointed. Usually there are massive attempts to make sure that no potential accusation of bias can be made. I'm quite surprised that it was not done with such a political hot potato. Maybe I'm even more surprised that Bojo didn't try to get a member of his family appointed - but maybe he did and I missed it!!

I'm quite surprised that it was not done with such a political hot potato. It was looked at and found not to be a problem. This information is available if you google for it Maybe I'm even more surprised that Bojo didn't try to get a member of his family appointed - but maybe he did and I missed it!! He did try, several attempts to get his father in a position. Also there is the strange promotion of a young lady (29yrs old) to the House of Lords... a certain lady who is the daughter of Johnson's first wife Allegra Mostyn-Owen. Obviously that was little more than him promoting someone who has very little real world experience to a position of power.

I'd like to find more for my 'discussions' with my weird friend. Can you please help with links. In particular:
1. Report on the investigation of Ms Gray that said it was OK for her to act. I've searched and found nothing - but that might be my lack of searching skill!! I'd love something that said BoJo tried to block it!
2. I've found links (easily) to Bojo trying to appoint family, and also links to the appointment of a 29 year old. But nothing in any of those links says that the 29 year old was the daughter of Allegra. The nearest I got was a post in some forum that began, "I'm only speculating". Will you please help?
I'd really love to hit him with something he won't know!!
Thanks Mick
