Another OTT car. Bob Riggle. by Keith Hudson, on Flickr Bob Riggle's rear engined Plymouth Barracuda wheelie car, equipped with a glass floor panel to aid forward vision during the wheelie. Glass bottom boats are not uncommon, glass bottom cars are more unusual.

That certainly doesn't strike me as a rapid launch facility! The old style lifeboat launches via a ramp from a pier seem a much better solution, recovery of the lifeboat may be hard work but instant launching under gravity could save lives.

The heights this jack up rig has gone to seem OTT for the job at hand, a foot above high tide would be enought to ensure a stable platform. sea worker BW raised by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr

The old style lifeboat launches via a ramp from a pier seem a much better solution, recovery of the lifeboat may be hard work but instant launching under gravity could save lives. It gets even more OTT, the trailer is reversed into the sea, the bed lifts to about 20 degrees and a pyro blows off the chain between the trailer and the boat, the boat then slides down the trailer's bed into the sea. Steph shot a video which shows the procedure including the pyro though the sound was much more impressive when you were there and not expecting it.

Over The Top? On The Top? A pair of ospreys built a nest on a transmission tower. They were at very high risk of electrocution with a 347KV power line conductor a couple metres away. When osprey family had left and the nest was not in use the electric company installed a very tall pole with a platform at the top about ten metres away and then moved the nest to the platform. the following year the ospreys returned and raised another pair of chicks.
