Don’t worry about it Rachel Reeves has told us pensioners we will be okay. Pension to rise £1700 over the course of this parliament. So in 2029 I will be able to afford a Starbucks coffee each week. Subject to change depending upon inflation of course. She is not going to be popular but it was a hard decision to make pensioners pay rather than big businesses

That Starbucks coffee just got expensive, about £9 a cup with the pension rise said to be £460 next year.

She is not going to be popular but it was a hard decision to make pensioners pay rather than big businesses I don't much like Starbuck's coffee and haven't been into a coffee shop for years but - if I read this correctly the price per cup is forecast to be £32.69 in 2029? If so it seems a bit unlikely that they'll stay in business that long.

Regardless of the size of the pension increase, I can see absolutely no reason to spend any of it in Starbucks.

Agreed. When Starbucks opened here - with great fanfare about bringing real coffee - they failed to compete with the already established cafes. There is one here, in a town of over 120,000 people. There are many other cafes...

My favourite coffee shop doesn't even have sugar available. Couldn't get much further in concept from Starbucks etc if you tried.

Indeed. We have many independent coffee shops in our locality, and every one that I have tried (except one ) serves good quality coffee, at a reasonable price.
The price of coffee in the 'chains' tends to be much the same as in the independents, but the quality is not even close, IME.
