More stream than river but an example of how best not to cross it. 274A0231.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Must have a thing about wet feet. Looking at the pictures again (2017) the stream is quite an obstacle. 274A3035.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Edit: I didn't take 3000 pictures - I looked again at Lightroom - they are different events - the first from May 2016 and the second in June 2017.

Dee suspension Bridge (foot bridge) at Queens Park, Chester. I think there are a couple of others, in private land and not accessible, further up river. They are going to do some work on it, don't know what, the visible metalwork is the scaffolding frame. It has been like that for a couple of years so they must have run out of money. Felixstowe from Harwich 2 ports across the river Stour/Orwell entrance where you'd expect a vehicular crossing 50mm no TC b by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr There is a foot ferry that runs hourly between 10 & 4 in good conditions - the alternative is a 50 minute drive, over 30 miles via minor roads & over 40 miles for lorries... Sorry rant over.

We were amazed by how little river traffic the Tyne has, not even Stag / Hen party boats despite the party time that was a typical Saturday afternoon on the Toon.

Not the best angle. It isn't that nice to look at to be honest but at the time it was built it was the longest span stone arch in the world and (according to wiki) still the largest single span in the UK. Grosvenor Bridge - constructed in 1987 to bring business to Chester. DSCF2826.jpg by Pete, on Flickr The only other bridge is the Old Dee Bridge which is single carriage way.
