When it comes to track & field athletics I like the throwing events, especially the hammer. It has to be the most complete test of speed, strength, agility, and skill. At school I was pretty handy with a javelin and discus, but never pursued them beyond school sports day.

400m was my favourite to compete in but find anything up to about 1500m can be pretty exciting to watch. I don't really watch any live running but I'm a fan of watching things like the Golden Tail series or Skyrunning series. Great scenery and more than enough time for tactics as well as pure speed. I rarely watch them live and make do with highlights on YouTube usually. Quite a lot of the lower level meets are just as exciting as the top level. Used to enjoy running in cross country events and did better in the longer races that required a bit of strategy with pace.

Well. I'm willing to concede that in every other regard he's a far better player than me, but my first touch must be at least 300% better than Lukaku's.

I do expect France to win tonight but there's plenty of quality in the Austrian team, especially since they dropped Bachmann.

Got a bronze in a South Yorkshire school event too! Second row in Rugby for the school and town rugby club. All that stopped when I was 16 or so when I discovered other things!

Hmm, who'd have thought, the comically large logos on the French shirts weren't the biggest cocks on the pitch.

Sport is cruel.
Both McIlroy and Norrie will take time to get over their perceived 'failure' in the last couple of days. Norrie in particular was sooooo close.

A fb ad says Scotland odds are 100/1 to beat Switzerland tonight. I don't think I'll take up gambling.

Far too short if you ask me, Switzerland are a pretty solid outfit. I expect all it means is they don't expect to lose money at that. I doubt they'd lose money at a million to one either but that's possibly more than their appetite for risk. I've still never been in a bookies anyway.

If I were a betting man I might have had a punt at that price (100-1), though more likely each way...
