I don't think I have ever really tried for special effects as such. Some editing maybe. Last week for the may (29th?) theme I applied a vignette in Lightroom to darken the edges of the photo. I have occasionally used a radial filter to give the same effect and occasionally used the Lightroom select subject to control the relative brightness of subject and background but I usually try to keep it subtle and I can't think of an example. The only really extreme use I made of it was for a "low key" theme ages ago on APforum. Folk seemed to like that then so here it is again. I like that. Assume its ICM using the zoom. I've tried it a couple of times (unsuccessfully) never sure weather to start zoomed in and move out or start out and zoom in ?

Looking at the Exif, it was 1/9 second on my iPhone. I assume (and sort of remember) it was just movement of my hand with the lens open whilst on "Live Photo" which means the phone takes a series of photos in a burst to make one photo which can also be saved to show the movement, if you get what I mean.

I've only got one photograph with sleep indexed as a key word. After a quick look I conclude that on the whole I don't bother recording any thing or any one not awake. Surprising really as it is a natural state often encountered. Sleeping Dunlin. I've looked at the original again in magnification and as far as I can see there is just one look out, on a rock at the bottom. They are in the lee of a wall. Memory says they are sheltering from a very strong wind and any predator would have to approach (into the wind) from the left of the frame, but the lack of movement in the water belies this. The Snooze by Nigel Hayes, on Flickr I think this must be a favourite spot as he was there again Sunday gone- same place, same pose. This one's from last July...
