At least if this story is anything to go by: www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd188qx0nn2oHow did she imagine she was going to get away with it? Everyone knew who they'd given the money to. Everyone was bound to find out she hadn't made any bookings. It was hardly the heist of the century. Also, if you're going to go down for fraud at least make the risk of being caught worthwhile, no? £7k? That's not going to last long on the lam.

I suppose performance art is out of the question?

The perp is over 40, so that's a fail for a non-devolved administration.

Climate deniers? They're not exactly known for their intelligence.

Only just seen this.
Why do couples put their friends and family to the huge expense of a trip to Thailand just to watch them go through some ceremony. They have probably been 'married'. in all but name for quite a while.
SWMBO and I came in for quite a lot of stick for getting married on Wednesday, when the families had to "lose a day's work" to attend.

I was married on a weekday (civil procedure required the office to be open), and my brother did too. We didn't actually formally invite anyone, it was just immediate family present.

I had the whole shebang because my mother thought that was the 'proper' thing to do even though she thoroughly disliked my choice of husband. It was the most passive aggressive display I think I've ever witnessed. When I replied to my aunt's innocent question of "Did you enjoy the day?" with "Yes, but next time I'm doing it differently", I really meant, without my mother being involved. I would have much rather had a registry office civil ceremony and a pint or two with friends in the pub later. Ah well, you live and learn.

We only got married to appease my Catholic M-I-L and to get the tax breaks. I doubt we would bother if we were doing it now.

I wish I hadn't. I was much too young and impressionable and susceptible to peer pressure.
Such is life.
