Purchases... in more than one sense. Purchases by Nigel Hayes, on Flickr This bar-cum-restaurant used to be an upmarket wine & spirit merchants and often they had brands, especially in spirits, that were hard to find elsewhere. Sadly they simply couldn't cope with the competition from the big chains and supermarkets and gradually morphed into a bar and eatery which it remains to this day.

Being a bit pedantic I know, but I think you've strayed over the border into N8 there. More interestingly, what's in your picture is actually a short queue for that place, it's normally even busier and very highly rated.

Yes on both counts, we were there quite late in the day and I can imagine it is much busier in a morning. We have similar in East Dulwich for fish, meat and ice cream it has to be a reflection of the areas' demographics.
I was unsure about the post code and the sign on the wall did not help it just says N, I have done the same correcting people of Flickr "No that is SE23 not SE22" when the boundary is some what confused can be further confused by one side of of a road been Southwark and the other side is Lewisham.

I've found postcodes can be very confused. At a previous house back in the late 1980s or early 1990s we had a letter from the post office telling us our 'correct' post code. It had a different code inside to the one they used in addressing the letter & both were different than the one we'd been using for several years! All were the same area but ended PN (our original), PL & TL (their 'corrections') The house was called 'Priory cottage' & was on 'Nightingale hill', so PN seemed most appropriate & we continued using that with no issues. update: I've just checked with Google (not an option back then) 192.com gives the house the PN version, and the map at Doogal.co.uk is right. The PL version shows a map some miles away with all properties being on a road that hadn't been built in 2000, & the TL version still doesn't even exist! So maybe it was just the post office that were confused.

This comes to mind. It has been shown on APforum. I think it is the only found thing I have taken a picture of. BV9R0081.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
