Well I like them, but more in savoury bread than sweet.

Erm, just accurred to me. Possibly influenced by one of the few mags I buy these days ( Food & Travel). Plus it was an 'excuse' to buy some more, much needed, fruit. Oh, they were. Even my picky friends down the pub were complimentary. Less so about the Goosenargh Cakes, which I wasn't too happy about - not sure the flavour of carraway is to my taste. I thought it was caraway seeds. It is, but I am using a 'new' (it came with the PC) keyboard and it is slightly different from the old one so my typing has suffered somewhat. Well, the cakes/biscuits in question go back a bit further than that - "In the 1880s, records hint to the Goosnargh cake being linked to the religious festival of Whitsuntide. " So not too recent. Mind you, I think I agree with you about the taste.

Might try making a batch without the seeds. IE shortbread biscuits.

Loaf by David Swan, on Flickr Today's loaf for the week, as it came out of the oven. No breadmaker, it's all done manually

Better caraway seeds than cassowary... Isn’t that the nasty bird from the other side of the world 🌎? Better that than a nasty bird from this country who becomes Home Secretary or even (Lord help us) Prime Minister!
