Mum* had a bad fall before Xmas and ended up in hospital from whence she was discharged to an assessment unit with the plan being for her to be discharged to residential care, week before last she was taken to a home she really liked but didn't like the news that it would be just short of £1k a week!
Then last Saturday she was readmitted to hospital with a chest infection
In the meantime her granddaughter Rebecca (Adam's eldest) was due to have her first baby Wednesday and mum whenever I spoke to her was worried she might have a hard time of it and that both mum and baby would be okay
Wednesday Adam gets called to come to the hospital first thing as mum is now very poorly
Wednesday Rebecca does not pop as it were
Friday , Rebecca is induced but Saturday baby is still refusing to come out
3.52 this morning baby (Violet) is left with sod all choice in the matter as she is born by c-section 4.30 Mum passed away peacefully
It almost feels like she wanted to know Rebecca and baby were okay and was hanging on until she knew they were if that makes sense?
*We are neither legally nor biologically related, she's Dave's mum but she always regards me as a daughter in law and I regard her as mum

I don't think it's that strange. Julie used to work in a care home and elderly and seriously ill people often make targets, usually a significant event or birthday and then die quite soon after.

Makes perfect sense.
I hope the new family, and you, are doing alright.

I'm just relieved Adam and Sonya got back from the hospital at 6.15am then set out to drive back home this afternoon but it's an 8-hour drive and I was worried they'd hardly had any sleep but they made it home safely and are going to see Violet in the morning

Congratulations on the new addition to the family - I love the name Violet xx Sorry to hear about your mum but, she evidently felt at peace to go which is the most we can all hope for. Best wishes.
