I view TV and internet stuff and computer stuff on my very large somewhat was upmarket Dell monitor. It's bigger than many televisions of a few years ago and is very suitable for viewing across the admittedly narrow part of my L shaped living room. TV comes from a Humax box. Sound goes into my old semi hi fi. I understand how it is all connected up. If I lose my marbles then I expect that a 'carer' wouldn't have a clue. However for now its great. I even got my latest camera connected both wirelessly and by USB but am awaiting a USB C to Ethernet connector to do that with an Ethernet wire. It helps that I am a bit of a nerd. All this is not frustrating; it is a winnable challenge. So far I have won. Back to the subject. I hope Don that you get all connected before its time to go home. It is not the connections etc, it is the operating system which is designed to "encourage" you to look at everything via the web whereby you are more likely to spend extra cash - especially as my Sony does not have iplayer. I have to use the Humax PVR for that. To me having to press a load of extra buttons to get what I want does not equal "smart". Could be worse I suppose, if BMW made TVs...
It’s the amount of buttons press that gets me. I’m going to try voice control via my Alexa to see if that works

I hope you have a good rest. Perhaps you could ask a relative to get you an Amazon Fire Stick, it was the easiest way to revive our no longer smart TVs, all you need is a HDMI port and WiFi.

I’m fully Fire Stick equipped at home but it’s a long drive over 70 miles so I’m not expecting any visitors. I’m not buying another Stick for the next ten days here.

IIRC you had issues getting internet tv during your last RC. Might be worth investing in an additional Firestick as part of your stadard travel kit. I took one last time we stayed in an RSPB cottage - only to find the tv was so old it did not have an HDMI port.

Got rid of my TV 8 years ago, shouldn have done it long before that. I like my TV. I don't like modern programming, all too loud and visceral. I mostly like old programs and there are channels that show them. The '60s is quite amazing to look back on and remember the general standard of living, the industrial and urban dereliction, the relative lack of traffic compared to today, the pollution. Aside from the received pronunciation of all the cast, which jars rather with the location footage, the Maigret with Rupert Davies is very good.

Can probably get an RF one too for TVs so old the only input is for an aerial. ...or just add a smart TV to the travel kit

Tonbridge (with an "o") or Tunbridge Wells (with a "u" and Wells) - often get mixed up and has caused great confusion in the past.
Good Luck

I’ve not heard anything about the TV situation today it’s annoying to have a 40inch smart tv unable to connect to the internet and I am watching Netflix and YouTube on a 9inch iPad screen. Going back to Tonbridge and Tunbridge I used to be a rep in a previous life time and this corner of South East England was mine so visited the towns many times but I’ve never been to Wells.

Care Homes are run on a shoestring. All singing dancing business internet access costs. Hence my recommendation re self sufficiency which combined with Andy's info on how to connect to old tellys should work. Does not help you currently but I do recommend getting the gear before your next RC. W
