Enjoy your fortnight. Why should a TV have an internet connection? So I can watch Netflix and most importantly watch YouTube I love YouTube OK. I've heard of those. Thought they were web sites not TV programs. Grandson watches videos from YouTube on his grandmother's computer.

A smart TV can access internet stuff like YT and Netflix, or Amazon Prime. I watch YT or BBC iPlayer on my telly.

I absolutely detest the 'smart TV' user experience, much preferring to use my mobile and cast to a TV than use the TV's apps with a remote control.

I use the quick and dirty method - plug the laptop into the TV through an HDMI cable, and turn on "project".

My "smart" tv is the stupidest device I have ever encountered. Makes no attempt whatsover to learn how I want to use it and thwarts me at most turns. Programmed by either an incompetant or someone with his/her own agenda.
Edit - It also comes over all surprised on the odd occassion it notices the PVR (also an android device) which has been plugged into it for the entire two years I have had it.

I view TV and internet stuff and computer stuff on my very large somewhat was upmarket Dell monitor. It's bigger than many televisions of a few years ago and is very suitable for viewing across the admittedly narrow part of my L shaped living room. TV comes from a Humax box. Sound goes into my old semi hi fi. I understand how it is all connected up. If I lose my marbles then I expect that a 'carer' wouldn't have a clue. However for now its great. I even got my latest camera connected both wirelessly and by USB but am awaiting a USB C to Ethernet connector to do that with an Ethernet wire. It helps that I am a bit of a nerd. All this is not frustrating; it is a winnable challenge. So far I have won. Back to the subject. I hope Don that you get all connected before its time to go home.

It is not the connections etc, it is the operating system which is designed to "encourage" you to look at everything via the web whereby you are more likely to spend extra cash - especially as my Sony does not have iplayer. I have to use the Humax PVR for that. To me having to press a load of extra buttons to get what I want does not equal "smart". Could be worse I suppose, if BMW made TVs...

This could describe most "smart" devices, IME.

It’s the before I go home bit that concerns me this morning getting a cup of tea seems difficult
