I cleaned off the sticky surface on a Nikon F100 last night with some Isopropyl alcohol ( IPA ) and a piece of course cloth . Only took a few minutes. I've done the same with several Minolta Dynax 7's and some Canon SLRs . As has been said - not John's usual tipple. One assumes...

Mine probably ought to be to actually take more pics! The D200 has come out once since the end of the cricket season, and the G10 has mostly been used for taking pics of dismembered Retinettes. I realise now how lucky I was, photo-wise at least because the place drove me nuts, working within a few minutes walk or cycle of beautiful things.
I also have a sizable stash of exposed film to soup.
ETA finish fixing the Retinettes, AND NOT GET ANY MORE BROKEN CAMERAS!

USE IT UP WEAR IT OUT MAKE IT DO OR DO WITHOUT That’s become my mantra, to hell with consumerism 😂 What a mantra! I wish more people would use it. We rush out To purchase the latest item, regardless of the cost what people thought before they bought maybe would have less rubbish going to landfill.

I’ve just made a vow not to buy ANY photo gear throughout 2024 Reckon the self discipline will do me good. Just told my partner of 27yrs…. Her jaw literally hit the floor Not sure if that pleases me or makes me feel guilty Hence, I’m sticking to my guns. There’s a clause The vow doesn’t cover cards/batteries or repairs. Anybody else dare to join me 😂 I could happily join you in making the resolution, but I doubt it would be kept for as long as a week! Instead I'll resolve to get rid of some - not a common occurrence but I now really need more space. Fitting out my planned 5x4 carry case before the summer (then using it more) is another resolution I can hopefully keep.

Well, I've got two of the Retinettes finished today (I may well shout a couple of frames with each on one roll hustvto check I have got the bloody focus set right), which leaves me one that I think I an slowly beating and another that I've yet to really start. Luckily the last just needs a clean, I don't need to dismantle the shutter.

Absolutely The irony of penalising older cars with the new ULEZ scheme is laughable, I honestly dread to think what the carbon footprint is with new cars these days, certainly new EV’s The old bangers contributed nothing in comparison to what the CF is on their replacement - must be off the scale!!

An F90 and F100 are the cameras in question. Both brilliant machines of their time. The F90 AF actually works at f8 although it shouldn't.

Some of us like new toys. If we didn't buy new toys then the camera companies would struggle to stay in business only selling to professionals who need new tools. The important thing is to pass on equipment that we no longer use but someone else would use it. Preferable family, preferably friends, even those for whom we do not have a natural affinity. Obviously I would rather trade in something for a sensible price than just give equipment away. I would not trade in good stuff for peanuts.

Bloody phone! Ah well, can't blame productive toast for that. When typing on my phone at home I use a Logitech K380 Bluetooth keyboard. I had problems with special characters in the early days but then found a way of key mapping. Sadly I have forgotten how I did that. My phone is Android. Some people seem surprised that Android actually comes with drivers for Bluetooth keyboards and mice.
