I’ve just made a vow not to buy ANY photo gear throughout 2024
Reckon the self discipline will do me good.
Just told my partner of 27yrs…. Her jaw literally hit the floor Not sure if that pleases me or makes me feel guilty
Hence, I’m sticking to my guns.
There’s a clause The vow doesn’t cover cards/batteries or repairs.
Anybody else dare to join me 😂

I'm not going to join you, but I will silently endeavour not to laugh should you break your resolution. Good luck!

Made a note of usernames/passwords and stored in the safe. Basically saturation point guys Enough is enough. If I can’t abstain for 12mths then there’s a serious problem going on which needs attention. Wish me luck, I’m feeling positive!!

You only need one camera so choose which one you want to use for this period and then lock the rest in the safe. Give it a go you might find it liberating and sell all your gear, after the best camera is the one that you have with you. And don’t go into debating the meaning of that quote. I often look at digital photos taken years ago with cameras not a patch on the newest version now available and they are fantastic so maybe the cameraman has something to do with it after all?

........ I often look at digital photos taken years ago with cameras not a patch on the newest version now available and they are fantastic so maybe the cameraman has something to do with it after all? Whilst I agree with this, I am really enjoying the low light capability of my EOS M6 mk2, even after three years of ownership I am finding new ways of pushing it. I would like more cameras because I have got ideas that would be more do able with a native ultra wide format which I have mused over elsewhere.
So no camera buying embargo for me.

No more cameras? I can probably manage that. Lenses? That's another matter entirely...

I should really replace my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100, but I just can't decide on what.

My new year's resolution is 24MP. Have been at 16MP for all the years I've been using that line but had to replace my camera when it developed terminal shutter issues.

I should really replace my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100, but I just can't decide on what. Is it working okay? If it is why replace it? The old adage of ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ springs to mind. We tend to replace stuff far too often nowadays. Save your money and put up with what you already have 😂

I should really replace my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100, but I just can't decide on what. Noooooooooo The LX1000 Is really special I bought one last year, my DSLR’s didn’t get a look in afterwards!! the lens got jammed around October, decided I couldn’t live without it, so sent it away to be repaired - it arrived back a week ago. A close friend was so impressed with mine, he bought the Mkii version, then subsequently sold off his entire dslr system. He now uses his LX or phone. Loves the freedom. I’d like the lx100ii, but won’t let go of my lx100 now it’s fully repaired - I can’t shoot 2 LX’s. So something to aspire to in the year 2025!! 😇

I do like the camera and don't really want to get rid of it. Frustrated with the dirty sensor though.

There’s a guy on eBay Clearer images He repaired mine - brilliant service I know he advertises sensor clean for the lx100
BTW have you seen how much they now go for, they’ve acquired a cult status I got mine for £175, it had been used for 2 holidays, utterly pristine with box and all accessories They now fetch double in that condition - hence deciding to get mine repaired.
Brilliant camera Kate, the EVF is nicer than any of my canon M series, lenses are faster too.
What’s not to like??

Why? It's still a very good camera. As long as yours isn't malfunctioning, there's no point. (Just my two penn'orth )
