Shopping in Staines today, saw this sign, which had also been there pre-Christmas.
That's a lot of visits to the salad bar! Or are they trying to go up-market?

Seems reasonable to me. How much did they have to pay staff on Christmas day. We went to our nearest Harvester on Boxing day. I'm guessing the festive menu was the same, or similar. Three courses for £27, the food was great and portions were good.

Sixty quid is about average. Doesn't cover my wage though...

If I was still working then I would want treble pay for Christmas day. Or perhaps as I was salaried I would want three days off in lieu.

Our local Harvester-Type place (was a Toby Inn when I worked for them years and years and years ago but has now been bought by some other cookie-cutter type establishment) was charging £36pp for a three course meal in the run up to Christmas and I believe £74.95 pp on Christmas Day. That put it right out of our budget with five of us for Christmas Dinner, and in fact we spent less on the whole food shop for the whole festive two weeks. I'm not sure the food would have been good enough to justify the expense but perhaps the lack of having to prep/cook/store/wash up etc would have.

Our food came in about £100 and still eating turkey and a fridge full of stuff that will do for New Year’s Day do need fresh bread and milk 🥛 last time we ate out on Christmas Day I think it was about £75 but the fact of no cooking or washing up made up for the cost.
