Looking up stack brings up South Stack - which amongst other things has a lighthouse, which I guess you could describe as stack-like in that it is tall and thin. 274A6084.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

This caused me a futile half hour search today. I had ended up with 5 saucers but only 4 plates. I hadn't looked out all the cups - so my search was where is that missing plate? I like this little teaset (German) so I could not imagine where I had used/broken/or put the missing plate. Turned out I had an extra saucer in the stack which belonged to a coffee set! Mystery solved. ap teaset2 by Kate Ferris, on Flickr

The very observant will see the extra one is the third saucer down. No colour on the rim and slightly deeper.

I went stack hunting today. Didn't quite expect this from the top of the car park DSCF6735.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Trying without the wall in the way. Hadn't realised that I had clipped it so much. Could have gone further to my right. Surprisingly few chimney pots. The buildings must be more recent than they look (or have been re-roofed). DSCF6736.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Still looking out from the car-park. This is probably pushing HSE a bit - those reels can be heavy and those stacks more than man-height (just). DSCF6738.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Needs pointing (badly) and maybe more - there is a biggish crack opened up and another one that looks as if it has been filled at one point. DSCF6744.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
