My daughter had a student Prime account which was discounted. After 2020 they increased the price so she cancelled it. For some reason Amazon didn’t switch her off. She still has prime and uses the TV service. No money is taken from her bank and hasn’t been for 3 years! I find it hard to believe but she swears she has looked at her bank account several times over the years and nothing has been deducted by Amazon. As a result of this thread, I again got her to check. I was right not to believe it. They now take it out in a yearly sum, not monthly, hence her not seeing the monthly fee going out. So not 3 years worth of free Amazon after all, lol. If she cancelled the Prime, then Amazon is at fault, surely? How about complaining to them that they didn't cancel when requested - and demand the annual deduction as a refund?

She’s away with the fairies most of the time!

Had an email today from amazon with my weekly music recommendations. I think their algorithm recipe has broken. They recommended to me Busted, Ne-Yo, and Girls Aloud amongst other crap. As I listen to most of my music through Amazon they should know that that really isn't the sort of crap I listen too!

He keeps posting their recommendations, which appear to be female orientated fashion or sleep aids. He gets more puzzled as the weeks go on.

Every now and then I get especially bad YouTube recommendations, but if I check the viewing history I can see my wife didn't switch to her profile.

Occasionally after I check the TV in our AirBnB, I see that a guest has left themselves logged in to Netflix or Amazon. My wife won't let me search for dodgy movies on their accounts and start them playing so that they appear on their "continue watching" menus before I log them off.

Serious question. Does Netflix in particular have 'dodgy movies' ? I ask because I'm sure that at least one of my grandchildren is allowed unfettered access to Netflix.

Mick What do you mean by dodgy? If you mean hardcore porn, then no but there is lots of stuff that would get an 18 certificate be it sexual content, sweary language, violence, etc. A bit like normal TV really.

Not sure what I mean. I used the same word as 'dreampolice' but I wasn't sure what he meant. Thanks for your answer.

I meant in a way of movies that don’t necessarily fit their normal viewing. There are adult films (not porn per se) such as gay and lesbian themed stuff. For instance if a load of gay themed movies appeared on the husbands continue watching feed it could raise some eyebrows! Rest assured I haven’t done it to anyone! I think there are settings within the Netflix account that can prevent your grandkids viewing 15/18 certificate content though.

I get that, of course. But, to me, delivery is as good as free. As I said if I go into the local town I get soaked for parking - minimum £3. About 2 parking avoidances pays my Prime. I don't bother with the other benefits (video streaming for example). Maybe the 10 not using the delivery service are avidly watching old movies!! Mick I use prime for deliveries for other family members!, listening to music and watching the odd bit of sport/tv. Probably get my money's worth, but I won't use Alexa. I use Alexa all the time and being in a care Home for a week I am missing her. Several times I’ve gone to use her.and I realized I am not at home. Feeling foolish. I have had to google my question. Still I will be home on the 18th and I can ask her everything about anything and she knows it.

Even Mrs S tells the satnav off...
