Lumpy snow. Moguls from La Herse by Keith Hudson, on Flickr I have posted this before possibly on AP because remember describing how 'moguls' were formed as successive skiers push aside snow a they make turns coming down a slope. Given most skis are a similar length to skill / weight factor they have a similar turning radius so the accumulation of snow continues through the day. Beginners find moguls difficult to cope with trying to turn in the valleys, experts turn on the top of the mounds seeming to skip down the hill with little effort. Your legs act as massive travel off road suspension, keeping your body at a constant height above the base hill, it very quickly makes the legs burn. The above looks to be between two prepared pistes and is probably just a short cut, all be it a fun little short cut that I would have been tempted to take without the risks of proper 'off piste'

Another industrial heritage from Dartmoor. The ones I was thinking about must be on film. I had put this on APforum but I've reprocessed it completely differently today - the way I look at processing images has changed a lot over the years. IMG_0128.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
