This is the second. Apologies if it causes offence. I really wasn't expecting to see this at a county show - usually the displays are more alive. BV9R1710.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

My unexpected is that I have nothing to offer. Blame it on this virus I can't seem to kill.

It's not unusual to hear the screech of hard braking behind me at motorsports, but it was definitely unexpected to see the outcome & even capture some of it before everything came to rest. 'e-Bay crashed' by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr

I'd heard railway engines were unusual in being able to go just as fast backward as forwards, but I hadn't expected to find a design that doesn't know which is which push me pull U train by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr

Not totally unexpected. A couple of years ago we had 2-3' of water here, coming through into the gardens because the developers had filled the field ditches. They then had to dig a huge ditch across the field behind our house to get rid of the water. Now they have filled this emergency ditch in and built over it. They were lucky that it was dry last winter. I'm not so sure of their chances now. By the sounds of it they are rushing to sink a drainage pipe to avoid the embarrassment of flooding our houses this winter. Luckily the rain yesterday and this weekend seems to be passing North of us. I took the camera out and was surprised. You can't really tell from this picture, taken with an Fuji X100V fixed lens compact, but the man is carrying, in imaginative fashion, a large roll of red carpet. It was at the start of the closing straight. He looked like he was seeking help by phone but then hoisted it in a 'U' around his neck and carried it down (to a van as it turned out). He only took two rests which allowed me to catch him up (I'm not a quick walker). DSCF0850.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Window in the water. Although this is clearly a reflection the first impression was of the window alone beaming out of the canal. The other detail only impinged later. It was a quite unexpectedly vivid appearance as I had been minding a cyclist approaching and hadn't been looking at the water specifically. DSCF0852.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Even when forewarned of steam engines locally, I've not managed half as good - yet you manage this on a chance meeting, I'm humbled!

I don't have any of my chuch ceiling shots to hand, & very little else in the way of indoor ceilings too. At least this engine room shot shows a fair bit of the ceiling (though the ceiling is plain) Engine room gauges by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr I did think of operational ceilings for aircraft but that puts them too far away, perhaps operational ceiling for motorbikes will do? Biking Oz style by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr I'd be scraping the barrel but that definitely goes the wrong way...

Ceiling of side entrance hall in Lews Castle Stornoway. Just about the only thing not messed up in the refurbishment. It reminds me of the ceiling in St Michael's Chapel Rycote (Oxfordshire) which we visited years ago. My hubby's maternal side had Quatermaine links there so a visit was mandatory! Pretty place, 15th century, I seem to remember. strange to say, I probably have links to the Matheson family who built this pile. ap ceiling lews castle by Kate Ferris, on Flickr
