Ellie, just wow! Annabel was excellent. It really looks like she has realised she can dance. Bobby's 'couples choice' was nice enough, but it's like a get out of jail free card. Perhaps everyone should have to do their 'couples choice' on the same week. Angela S. under marked again, but I think the public know this and will save her from the dance-off. Nigel and Layton to dance-off and the judges will save Layton even if he ends up sat on his arse. So. I have been informed that there is a supposedly very reliable mole in the Strictly camp and a twitter account where you can find out the results before they are aired. I'm afraid I gave into temptation and if the information is 'good', I can reveal...that you are in fact, to some degree, but not all, correct in your assumptions. I'll leave you to watch the results show with no further comment because you may have more self-control than me and wish not to have the result beforehand. For my part I'm curious to see if what I read is what actually happened!

Nigel has withdrawn with an injury. The BBC won't confirm if there will be an elimination tonight. I guess they're waiting to see if Layton ends up bottom of the table;)

What total and utter bullshit from the judges. They won't have helped Layton's cause, but they've made sure he'll be in the final in a fortnight. Ellie and Annabel stood out for me.

Well Bobby got lucky this week with there being no elimination - that lift did not go according to plan. I feel that Ellie and Annabel have, overall, improved the most over the course of the competition, Annabel in particular. She's doing so very well compared to the way we all probably thought she'd do at the beginning. Layton's dance was terrific but I disagree about it being perfectly in sync - there were at elast two occasions at the top of the dance where there was a definite difference in timing. However, I don't think it would matter if he did a dance worth fifty points, the public obviously don't like him, and I'm not sure that the various comments indicating that are going to have helped. It's a pity because I really enjoy watching him dance.
I've no real favourites from the ones left - be happy with any of them as a winner to be honest.

Aren't Bobby and Layton 'pros' in the entertainment business? I think that I prefer the two females, and although I have a real soft spot for Annabel think that Ellie is quite a bit better.

Mick Depending on your definition of 'pro in the entertainment business', I reckon the same could be said for Nigel, Ellie, both Angela's, and Amanda - actors/entertainters all, and Layton is not the only one to have had 'previous dance experience'. I wasn't aware that Bobby had done much dance beofre but maybe he did. I think Ellie will win it - she's very popular and she has proved herself to be an adept learner. Is she 'better' than Layton? I don't think so, but he seems to rub people up the wrong way so probably won't get the votes. Annabel is an absolute class act - I love her, and she has improved enormously but I think hte public will want more pizazz in their winner. If Vito's choreography provides that for Ellie they'll be very hard to beat.

Sorry should have been more specific. I should have added ‘with dancing experience’. It turns out that I was wrong about Bobby but right about Layton.
Agree that Annabel is one classy lady! My wife is convinced that we met her a lifetime ago. She says it was at a corporate hospitality do at Wimbledon. She claims that I was bowled over even then. I don’t remember it

I'm not sure I agree with you about Layton. Sure the kid can dance, but every dance he does just seems like a showdance. This weekend was no exception. It resembled a Paso Doble, but it wasn't a Paso Doble. I've seen many contestants marked down for the same things he got a perfect score for. Was he really 10% better than Ellie? He definitely consigned himself to third place with his petulant comments to Claudia. You'd have to tip Ellie to win, an exceptional dancer and popular with the public, but given the judges have no say in the final you can't write anyone off.

I caught some of it for the first time tonight. Impressive across the board. No idea who they are but I gather that 2 in these semis had never danced before.
