I don't want to get into the politics of this. I wanted to remark on the astounding incompetence of whoever 'prepared' the barge for use.
Even in my day, legionella was an issue and great precautions were taken. Taking a barge that hadn't been used for some time and failing to check and cleanse the water system, to me, is incompetence of the highest order.
Less surprising is the incompetence of the politicians who, knowing that the barge was controversial, didn't ask, ask and ask again to ensure that this sort of embarrassment didn't happen.

It's all a game, the politicians can say it was outsourced and the suppliers failed. There's always someone else to blame if you are a Tory.

It was tested according to reports. They just failed to wait for the results before boarding them. Likewise they aren't that bothered about the fire services concerns either it would seem.
I dare say the Daily Wail will have another view.

I recall the National Museum of Scotland managed to breed a few in the air conditioning plant and vents on the roof - from where we got a lovely view of Edinburgh.
I also remember how ill hubby was afterwards.
