 ap enclosed land by Kate Ferris, on Flickr This place is what's known as a township - actually a small crofting/fishing village on the Isle of Lewis. This landscape was at least 'manufactured' - enclosed, fenced, allocated but still owned by the Stornoway Trust, to whom a small rental is paid. 'Improvements' on the croft (the land) are allowed and these principally refer to a house and perhaps a barn too. So, this is my offering. Hope it tells you a little more about life on my little Island. |

The first thing that springs to mind is the zoo, where all the animals are enclosed, but the objective for me on a visit is to not show the enclosure/cage. I suppose I must have some but they are all fairly old. Here is a red panda enclosed in its nesting place.  BV9R0032.jpg by Pete, on Flickr |

Last zoo picture or I'll be here all day. Enclosed by trees - Mechelen Zoo in Belgium. The only picture of an elephant that I have got that doesn't obviously show a zoo feature. Compared to Chester Zoo my memory is that the enlosures/cages at Mechelen were quite obvious - April 2013 so a few months before I came back to the UK.  BV9R0017.jpg by Pete, on Flickr |
