The over 80 age addition to state pension has been frozen at 25p/week since it was introduced in 1971. It has just become a silly complication. Either old folks deserve a modest increase in which give a sensible sum, or they don't need it and it would be sensible to scrap it, or consolidate with all old style pensions.
The newish single tier system, started in 2016, does not add this payment.

Don't spend it all in the one shop.

The new system started in 2016 was an insult as well to those of us who had worked all their productive life. Same for TV license. Hit us post-war kids well and truly. Now, what am I going to do with my cash ISAs when they mature from their locked in prison sentence soon? Fat chance of finding anything better I guess.

I am having lots of money I am wishing to share with the most beautiful Kate. If you show me yours, I will show you mine and I am sure you will love me forever.

Don't spend it all in the one shop. I haven't got it yet. There's a week to go.

It has just become a silly complication. Just like the other benefits then. Would you prefer £1600 a month no questions asked?
