Have you made something that made you feel like you accomplished something or something someone else did that made an impression on you. Nothing is too small or large. I made a tray of bran muffins the other day the house smelled really nice afterwards and every one complimented and enjoyed them.

230704-paintjobv by Kath Polley, on Flickr About three years ago I finally replaced the 'kickboards' under the kitchen units which had been badly chewed up by the previous owner's dog. I cut them, fit them, took them out and primed them and painted the boards to the left of the sink. Can't remember what happened which prevented me from painting the boards on the right hand side of the sink but I finally got round to finishing the job yesterday. Of course now the paint from three years ago needs a touch up. Maybe by 2025?

230704-Home Decorating-002 by Kath Polley, on Flickr Inspired, no doubt, by the kickboard painting success, I have now painted the 'nook' that used to house my son. It is the same colour as the rest of the studio and will be used as a storage area for photol props and hopefully also a small darkroom. I am aware the skirting boards are a mess but they're about to be sanded and painted anyway so I wasn't being overly careful.

230707-Storage Room by Kath Polley, on Flickr The new storage room has been completely painted (walls, ceiling, coving, skirting), new light fitting installed, shelving moved from studio to storage room and filled with the various accoutrements to food and product photography. You can't see it in this shot, but to the left is a wheelable trolley for mounting and framing prints, storage for camera bags and on the right is another set of shelves for paper/cardstock, greeting cards/envelopes etc. The wardrobe they all came out of is going to house my film and darkroom chemistry, red lights, trays etc. I still have to finish painting the ceiling in the studio but I'm trying to work out how to 'nicely' leave a white bit above where I shoot for light-bouncing purposes. I may just paint it all grey and install a 'tent' of white fabric on the ceiling at that point so that it all looks tidy.

My evening class in metalwork where I made a bird bath (on a stand) from a copper cylinder. The birds loved it. Wish I had brought it with me when I moved. gneiss pebbles in the bird bath by Kate Ferris, on Flickr

230708-JBPW-Drumhead Loop-033 by Kath Polley, on Flickr I managed to guide nine people around a route I've not done since my 25 year old was three without getting lost, rained on or taking an awful lot longer than our allotted hour for the walk. Okay, that last bit's a fib. We took an hour and a half instead of an hour. But nobody complained. I felt quite accomplished!

Very proud to have been a small part of the team who built the new engine shed at kempton railway. We are very lucky to have such a great team of volunteers The icing on the cake was the railway won a Heritage Railway Award for the construction of the shed

I made an effort with the daily theme the other day. Looking for a picture deliberately is something I can't usually do (although this subject was fairly easy). I dug out a flash and macro lens that I hardly ever use. I actually had to lie down on the ground to take this shot, the spikes at the bottom are mown lawn, and I don't normally even bend down because it is physically difficult. The black (dark in this case) background because the exposure is dominated by the flash is also a first, I have always used flash as fill-in and never on purpose as the "sole" light source. Plus I was pleased enough with the results to not delete them. 274A1733.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Not my achievement, but I was certianly impressed by what members of the Jean's Bothy Woodworking group achieved. There was a small 'arch' at the bottom of the path leading to the Bothy's front door which had been there years and was damaged in a storm. The woodworking group set about creating a new one. Now, I may have made some sarcastic comment about Amish barn-raising because the new arch is mahoosive, but fair play to them. Not a nail or screw in sight - all done with traditional carpentry methods and it includes two benches to sit on. The plan is to train an existing wisteria plant around it and to add in some clematis too. Good job lads!
