A couple of nights ago there was a TV prog that explored the relationship between Johnson and the Lebedevs, who were/are Russian Spies.
Why did 'partygate' take so much airtime when the above relationship seems to me to be very much more serious.

Because it wasn’t dodgy at all. Just because BJ decided to go alone to the house in Italy without any security or aides doesn’t mean anything. The Italian secret service weren’t actually monitoring the house. It all all lies. A witch hunt. Just a coincidence the spies son got a seat in the lords. Nothing to see, move on.

I would have thought that the Tory press buried as much bad news about Johnson as they could until the public started to die due to covid, and then some enemy or other spilled the beans about his parties and they had no choice but to remove the liar. Lebedev was pushed underground as much as they could because it did not immediately affect anyone.
Why do you think Dacre was supposed to go to the HoL?

I do remember reading about his visit to the Italian villa at the time. They also showed photos of him looking quite disheveled afterwards IIRC buy yeah, there was very little about it.
As it happens, I am just watching the Dispatch’s programme now on catch up.

People see the badly fitting suit, shirt untucked, messy hair and think "he's a bit of a fool". It's an image he's promoted to distract the people and make them think he's harmless and just a normal person. |

I remember him telling that before he entered a room when he knew the cameras were there, he ruffled his hair in readiness. |
