So there have been four stabbings in the last couple of weeks. I told you about the dream I had about the plane crash at the site of two of the stabbings, didn't tell you that the other victim was a friend of my sister's partner. Yesterday a man was stabbed on a tram, which I had been on less than an hour before. I am well aware of the odds involved in these sort of incidents but I wonder if I should be more worried

To some extent I would say It depends on whether they are random, which is less likely than targeted. I find it of concern that some are carrying knives and are at the least prepared to use them. You are probably more likely to be involved in a road accident though.

I caught a debate on Sunday morning. Stop and search was the topic. A white former police officer backed the need for stop and search and said if it targets young black men there is a reason, which is young black men are more likely to be killed and kill using knives. The rest of the panel then seemed to blame everyone from the Government to the Police for the issues, which I have some sympathy for, however they didn't seem to recognise or acknowledge the simple fact that the former policeman was correct. Do the parents also need to accept some of the blame?

PS went to have my eye assessed yesterday. Appears to have worked, and hopefully at a three month check up I should be discharged And yes while I was away last week I wore an eyepatch to protect my eye from dust and saltwater spray.

Be honest, how many times did you do a pirate voice? Not enough, mainly because I didn't want other visitors to think I was a Tory party donor on holiday

A few years ago when I remodelled our garden We found 3 kitchen knives A fixed hunting knife And a knuckle duster all thrown over our fence which sits atop a stone wall running the entire perimeter of our property. We were shocked to say the least, all were put inside a shoe box and stored in the garage. Then last year a thief who tried to steal a neighbour’s car by hooking their keys through their letterbox was disturbed, bolted and ran through our property exiting by the rear gate. I was oblivious to all this, just woke and found the rear gate open and swinging in the wind. Later neighbours told us what had happened which then explained why my gate was open. The police called later to look and ask if we had cctv footage, during the conversation regarding crime I mentioned the knives I had found, they asked to see and took them all away.
It transpires that youths carry these on themselves but if they get nervous they often chuck them, hence finding them.
Worrying to think 1 property had all those !!

Slight change of subject.
The M-in-Law of my youngest son had a spell being dogged by death. For about four, maybe five, holidays one of her travelling companions would die. It became a black joke in the family.
Happily that spell seems to have been broken.
