I often wonder at some of the "screen names" used on forums and elsewhere on line, don't know who christened mr "Old Father time" here, at least it's better than "Grumpy old fart" seen on another forum.

At one time I became The Tamed Shrew, something that harks back to the 1980s for me.I can't recall others, so I must be very boring. Not telling you how I got the first one though.

My cricket nicknames are Frog in a Blender and the Washing Machine, both pretty obvious if you see me bowl. There's also Ten Der Groiner which is a pun on the injury I took on tour to Holland last year and also on Essex and Netherlands star Ryan Ten Doeschate.

Everyone nearby shakes when you do a fast spin?

I was Geren on the AP forum, an online name I adopted after my middle one's imaginary friend. To this day I have no idea where she came up with the name and have come to the conclusion that Geren was real.

My rugby club friends call me Boner, a rather unimaginative, and my wife would say ironic, play on my my surname. My fishing buddies call me Mary after one of them spelt my name wrong.

When I was born, the midwife asked my mother what my name would be. John Patrick, was the answer. The midwife replied that I'd never get a job, with a name like that...

I have had another name though. Before I was adopted my name was Margaret Mary. I'm a little sad that my adoptive parents didn't keep one of those as a middle name but I was told that because they had a double-barrelled last name, a middle name as well would be 'too much'. Seems like a cop out to me but there you go. If I ever write a novel (unlikely I'd say) I'll have use it as a pen name instead.

I lost Ethelred the Unready as nickname when the AP forum closed. It was much better than Senior Member although it might have been intended as an insult. My forum name was Still Learning but I chose to use my real name on this forum, although I am still learning (case is relevant in that sentence.).

I thought it was just 'Learning' Perhaps MJB can change your title on here to "Still Learning" ?

Mike - Are you on about Custom Titles rather than screen names? Your screen name is - dorsetmike (you chose this yourself) Your forum title is - Old Hand (this is based on the number of posts you've made. You custom title is - Old Father Time (a title given you by the admin team) Back on the old AP Forum my custom title was "Fen the Destroyer" . . . never did find out why

I can't possibly comment on any link between the two.

I remember it as Still Learning too.
