Several pints of Loddon Brewery's Hullabaloo, followed by a burger from late-night Oxford legends Peppers Burgers. Finally had one after just over 22 years in the city. TBH I suspect the legendary status is mostly because that are open when all else in that end of the city (Jericho) has shut, but I'd love to know what they do with their chips because they were red-hot all the way to the last one. I reckon they have nuclear fusion fryers. Reminds me of a line from a Caithness songwriter Nancy Nicholson:- "We've nuclear fish an' fine atomic coos, plutonium coated people and radioactive booze."

I met a friend for lunch in Manchester at a polish restaurant. I’m stuffed now. Had a pre starter of sourdough spread with lard and pickles. Followed by a sauerkraut soup then a main of pork neck, with pickles, dumplings and a horseradish gravy. I shouldn’t have, but did, have an apple cake for dessert. All very nice indeed.
Probably just a snack for dinner.

It was actually quite tasty. It wasn't like white packet lard, more like a dripping. In Paris I once had a "pre" of bread with goose fat with some shredded goose meat in it which was very tasty. The lard my mother used to buy was called "pure beef dripping" so when I first heard of a "dripping sandwich" I was somewhat non-plussed.

We loved forerib as a joint so lots of lovely gravy and dripping from that. It was very tasty on toast at teatime. I used to clarify the dripping by boiling it in water then letting it stand to get cold in the fridge. Slice off the gunge at the base and we were left with lovely dripping to use for frying things.

This had bits of pork in it too. it had these as pickles, a type of squash apparently. I'd never had one before. it was very nice

Patty pan squash, if you see them buy them, much nicer than courgettes.

A cow patty is nicer than courgettes. Forgive me if I am wrong but veg does not appear to be a major component of your diet?

Roast potato, roast parsnip, cauliflower, leek, carrot and good beef gravy. To accompany all that healthy veg I had two slices of roast sirloin.
