Birdguides (sic) photo of the week seems to be running again. I used to get a weekly email, which stopped a long time ago, and I thought it was because they'd restricted the emails to subscribers. The "photo of the week" and the runners up were often fabulous. I just searched and found it. If it is running again as a free subscription then it is worth searching out. The paid subscriber service is more aimed at twitchers - news of sightings etc.

A few minutes ago... Cropped phone pic my wife took. Sparrowhawk sat on the fence checking out our dining table! View AttachmentIt is quite amazing when they do that. You wouldn't know they are about and then one perches for ages. This one (posted before on APForum) taken through our kitchen window, through double glazing at an oblique angle, amazes me that folk get upset about filter quality. DSCF5350.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

They've put horses in to keep the grass down but that doesn't seem to bother the cattle egrets. Again a bit too far away to be good. DSCF5460.jpg by Pete, on Flickr DSCF5482.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
