This weekend I very nearly finished the "pondery" made with the rocks I nicked off the local fields (much to @mjb's disgust) during lockdown. It's no longer an elephant trap in the garden, it is now very definitely a fully fledged rockery and pond. Still needs some tidying up and planting up, plus installing a water feature to keep it oxygenated in late summer, but I'm hoping that if I can get some plants in soon I might attract froggies. flic.kr/p/2obGnu2

Every year I buy a new product key for Norton online, as it is a fraction of the price of the renewal. This year was under £7 vs nearly £70, for example. When registering you have to agree to a renewal at the predetermined ripoff price, but can then cancel renewal at any point. After years of making it as difficult as possible, I was delighted to complete the task in about 4 clicks of a mouse this time around. Nice.

Never seen it a slow as £7. Was that for one pc? £6.97 for Norton 360 Standard 1 device. I think I had it under £10 once before but usually mid-teens.

I paid 13.99 for a 5 pc licence so not bad.

Some shops are just not very good at arithmetic. I was in the local cash and carry and remembered I needed some more gin, so I went and picked up a one litre bottle at a comfortable price, and just happened to glance at the next rack down where there were the seventy centiliter bottles. Now, I love mental arithmetic and do it all the time on silly things just to keep the grey matter functioning, and the price differential was definitely wrong. Worrying that I had got it wrong, I got out my phone and punched the numbers - and sure enough, the 70 cl price per litre was noticeably below the 1 litre bottle. I put the 1 litre bottle back and picked up a 70 cl bottle, but then grabbed a second one to be Canadian-correct with two drinks per week.

1. Andy Murry - Storming performance - even if he was not an old player with an artificial hip. 2. Johhny Rotten - Just watched an interview on Channel 5 News where he talked about life with his wife's Alzheimers - humbling. A lovely gentle guy.

Well highlighted Andy. In Edinburgh at least, one of the waste collections is for small electricals - not mentioned on the ScotGov website.

There's also the issue that litterbugs don't use bins, which will hopefully be in mind due to the discussions about banning disposable cups on the NC500 route. That said adding charging circuitry and being able to replace liquid to vape might not add much to the price over the current disposable options.

I went for an eye test yesterday. Last one was in Feb 2019. My prescription has hardly changed. My optician said I only need to change my specs if I need to because of the frames.

My frames are a bit knackered TBH, shame that they are the cheapest part of the whole thing and to change them involves buying lenses! VF are expensive. I'm going to look in Costco today and see what their prices are like.

Well I went to Costco optician and came out a bit lighter. They only do premium varifocals on Zeiss glass (my current ones are premium on Nikon) so they should be no real difference in quality and view through these. They are the drivesafe and have the anti glare coating as well as being anti scratch and with a thinner lens. The lenses were £250 so a fair bit cheaper than I have paid at my optician. Hopefully they will be good.
