A spot of history! I get the impression that illuminated signs stay up and on until they fall off. In Brussels, I left in 2013, the camera shops often had impressively outdated neon signs, even long after they had stopped selling anything photographic!

I like T4.
For some reason, it makes me think of Saul Leiter.

I can see why, Steve. It has that sort of flavour.

I rather like tabac 1, but it's a good set, as always.

It is my ambition to retire to France and run a Tabac. They are very often places where locals gather for a glass of red or two, they sell tobacco, newspapers, stamps, blackmarket meat products, coffee and croissants and are usually licensed to sell alcohol too. A sort of cross between a post office, bar, newsagents, gossip shop and cafe. Love these. Very redolent of all that I love about France...

I think it's their anarchic view of authority and life which attracts me the most. That, and the food, the wine, the tabacs... yes, I'd fit in. I tried to persuade my half sister and her French husband to move across there, but strangely although I guess my sister would, her husband likes London too much. They are off for a visit to family in a few days, lucky things.

Ha! Â Yes. Â I really meant photos rather than posts. Â I think you could tell the difference somehow! The shrug of the shoulders as you post... The moaning about why is the steak raw might be a clue.
